Taken on an early Tuesday afternoon in April after a brief break in Georgia’s springtime rain, this photo is from the perspective of a pedestrian crossing Alpharetta’s new Encore Parkway Bridge. This unique multimodal gateway is located in North Fulton County and spans Georgia State Route 400, one of North Fulton’s most traveled vehicular corridors. Keeping the project within the Georgia Department of Transportation’s (GDOT) bridge standard, and reducing structural weight, stone walls lining the bridge are individually hand-painted concrete formliners designed to replicate the look of natural stone used in streetscape elements throughout the surrounding district. Funding partners for the project include the North Fulton Community Improvement District (NFCID), City of Alpharetta, Georgia State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA), GDOT and the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC).
